Custom learning at scale at Danone

17/12/2025

Nutricia, known for baby food and medicinal food, among other products, is a major Danone brand that hits shelves worldwide. What you may not know is that Nutricia’s products are also used worldwide for specialty medicinal diets.

So does the KetoCal product line, which is specially designed for children with a rare form of drug-resistant epilepsy.

In order to properly inform neurologists about the possibilities of KetoCal, it is important that Nutricia’s sales staff worldwide have sufficient knowledge about the disease profile and the KetoCal product line.

That knowledge is abundant at the Research Center in the Netherlands, but proved difficult to transfer to the sales teams worldwide.

Through clever use of AI, Collow translated existing knowledge and expertise into e-learning curricula that were automatically translated into 8 languages, in order to efficiently share knowledge from the Netherlands with Nutricia departments worldwide.

The Result: Global Impact at Scale

By using the Collow platform, the expertise of the Dutch Research Center was translated at lightning speed into an interactive learning program. Within two months of going live, more than 150 sales employees were trained across 4 continents and more than 20 countries.

The delivered curriculum consists of:

  • 3 comprehensive e-learning modules focused on product knowledge and disease states.
  • 2 impact assessments to objectively test the level of knowledge both before and after the training.
  • 6 interactive videos to support the lesson material.
  • 1 realistic sales call simulation for practical skills training.
  • Full localization, with all content made available in 8 different languages.

Methodology

1. Discovery Workshop

Together with the Nutricia team, we defined the frameworks of the project. This workshop focused on three questions:

  • What specific learning outcomes do we want to achieve?
  • What form of e-learning best fits this?
  • And within this context, what do we collectively mean by successful e-learning training?

2. Inventory material

Nutricia already had a rich source of information scattered throughout the organization. We inventoried all existing content, ranging from technical PDFs and presentations to videos and infographics. This formed the content foundation for the new modules.

3. Creating e-learnings with Collow Creator

With Collow Creator, we transformed the existing material into high-quality leather content.

  • AI-driven content: Collow Creator automatically generated the textual content and associated knowledge questions.
  • Visual enhancement: We manually added supporting images from Nutricia’s image bank for a recognizable look.
  • AI avatars: In support, we developed videos with AI avatars. This offered great advantages: it is a fraction of the cost of a traditional video production, the videos are easy to modify afterwards, and they are effortlessly translatable. Each language region was given its own avatar to match the local culture.

4. Editing of e-learnings.

The AI-generated English courses were first carefully edited by Nutricia’s subject matter experts. Once this base was final, AI translated the entire package into the remaining languages. These translations were then checked locally by experts in each country to ensure medical nuance.

5. Going live and distribution through Collow Evolve

To achieve maximum adoption, we chose to adopt Collow Evolve platform. This bypassed the barriers of the corporate learning environment and gave us direct access to extensive learning analytics. The platform was completely set up in Nutricia’s corporate style, so employees trained in a familiar, professional environment.

Maximum scalability, minimum lead time

Through the clever use of AI, we were able to drastically reduce turnaround time and costs. From setting up the training structure to producing video materials and global translations: Collow enabled customization on a large scale for Danone.
